How machines learn: teachers who don’t teach & students who can’t learnDecember 18, 2017
Machine learning algorithms are driving the latest analytics for drone imagery in agriculture. Deveron teamed up with machine learning experts, Raptor Maps, to count pumpkins from a drone image using an algorithm.
Raptor maps used a specific type of algorithm called a neural network to conduct this plant count. How do these algorithms really work? Raptor Maps explained that much of the process is hidden, and outputs are continually refined. For more insight, take a few minutes to enjoy the following video from CGPGrey about how this unconventional method achieves amazing results. As Mr. Grey says, “A builder that builds at random, and a teacher that doesn’t teach just tests, and students who can’t learn they just are what they are, in theory shouldn’t work but in practice it does!”
